I haven’t been running or training a lot, to be honest. But I shall be hitting the road for a few kilometres this week before the night run this weekend. 15.5km should be okay. I managed to finish the Nike 10K run in 1 hour and 10 minutes (not bad for a first-timer), so let’s see how fast I can go this time.

Really love the colour of the top. Thanks, Energizer and Brooks, though I did pay a fair amount of registration fee. Haha!

Happy running to all participants. Hopefully the event will run (pun intended) smoothly this time around. :)

Update 2 (April 24): Russell Peters will have a second show in Malaysia on May 11!! Scheduled at the night before his first show in Malaysia, ticket sales details will be up real soon for funny man’s second show!

Update (April 18): The tickets for Russell Peters Malaysia show was sold out in an hour’s time!! (Some claimed two hours, but still!!) Lucky for me, I managed to get a ticket all thanks to Chapree who were willing to let me tumpang. For those of you who didn’t manage to purchase the tickets, get your fingers crossed and pray that the funny man will have a second show in Malaysia, just like in Singapore.

The event will be happening on May 12 (Saturday, 8.30 pm) at the Shah Alam Stadium Melawati (one stadium just to listen to a funny man? INSANE!!)

Tickets will be on sale at Ticketpro.com.my and AirAsiaRedTix.com starting on April 18, 9.00 am. Ticket prices are as follows:

Gold 1 – RM338
Gold 2 – RM248
Silver – RM188
Bronze – RM128

So, be sure to get up early on morning of April 18 to purchase your tickets!! It’s gonna be sold out real fast!

Adidas Malaysia opened the registration for this year’s King of the Road through an announcement on their Facebook page. The adidas King of the Road 2012 will be held on September 9, 2012 at NPE near Sunway Pyramid (same like last year).

There are four categories each for 16.8km and 10.0km run this time – Men Closed (Malaysian), Women Closed (Malaysian), Men Open (International), and Women Open (International).

The sign up fees are as follows:

Early bird registration (April 10-May 31) for 16.8km : RM 50
Early bird registration (April 10-May 31) for 10.0km : RM 40

Normal fee (June 1-July 31) for 16.8km : RM 55
Normal fee (June 1-July 31) for 10.0km : RM 45

During my stay in Kluang, I managed to take some pictures of my nieces and nephew. They love having their photographs taken very much.

The priceless smiles. That’s the reason I enjoy taking pictures of kids.

There, I stayed at my grandmother’s place, together with my grown up cousins and their adorable children. On the second morning of my stay there, I drove to this place called Tasik Sembrong (Sembrong Lake) that I read about on the Internet. Little nieces woke up real early so that they could follow me there.

Tasik Sembrong is not a really a recreational hotspot due to its location. My cousins and aunt who live in Kluang don’t even know that place. It’s about 20km away from Kluang town, en route to Ayer Hitam/Batu Pahat, and it is just a lake with a National Service camp built right beside it. It doesn’t have any recreational parks nearby or any picnic spots for the public to spend time at, whilst the road leading into the lake is not equipped with road lamps, and it’s not tarred.

The road connecting Tasik Sembrong and the main road (Jalan Batu Pahat) is about 4km long. It was just 6.30 am when we (the kids and I) got to the junction leading into the lake. After speaking to the warong operator there, I drove in without a doubt. The whole place was pitch dark. We could see nothing but that short stretch of road ahead of us thanks to the car’s lights. There were no other vehicles and no one else there.

It was eerie. I don’t know if the kids felt the same, or they were still too sleepy to even feel afraid.

We arrived at the Sembrong National Service camp whilst it was still dark. Afterwards, I drove along the banks of the beautiful lake before stepping out to get some pictures – of the picturesque scenery and of us.

After spending about an hour at the lake, we returned to Kluang and had breakfast at the Kluang Rail Coffee before spending some time at the playground near my grandmother’s place.

Lemme start with telling you how have I been a big fan of the petite Canadian singer. I spent my whole secondary school listening to her songs, from singles like Complicated to When You’re Gone to Wish You Were Here.

I arrived at Stadium Merdeka with my friend, Shaun, at about 5pm and the crowd was already building up. Lucky for us, the private car park just opened and so it wasn’t hard to find a parking; except that it cost RM 10. When we got there, there were already queues for regular zone and rock zone.

As the sun set, more and more people arrived and the queues became even longer, whilst traffic started to get worse.

Anyway, we made our way into Stadium Merdeka and were treated with some good song mixes by Miss Universe Malaysia 2010, DJ Nadine Ann Thomas, before the pop princess took the stage at 8.45pm. Throughout the concert, she performed 16 songs, including her latest singles, What The Hell and Wish You Were Here, as well as hits from her previous albums, such as Sk8er Boi, Girlfriend, and He Wasn’t.

During a few of her tracks, I actually made phone calls to a couple of my friends so that they could listen to Avril live too. lol. It was too exciting, I just had to share with them! :P One of the best part was when she sang Wish You Were Here. The whole audience sang along and trust me, it was super awesome to be a part of the crowd. I felt so touched at that very moment.

Okay, I got goosebumps from that, but I’m pretty sure you’d understand what I’m trying to say here if you had been to a concert of your favourite artiste. :) Her band also performed the Pumped Up Kick by Foster The People, as the concert drew close to an end.

Speaking of the fans, they were absolutely fantastic! And fanatic!! Haha!! The noise, the screaming and yelling, and the I-LOVE-YOU-AVRIL screams were terrific! I’m pretty sure the Malaysian fans have given some really powerful support to Avril at Stadium Merdeka that night, so hopefully she’d be back soon again! On the other hand, I’ve also met a few home town friends at the concert and met a new friend there. Pretty great night I guess :)

It’s pretty amazing that after all these years, I still enjoy listening to her songs; and it’s even MORE AMAZING to be able to hear her singing and performing live.
